Directly after the abortion treatment (or within your first menstruation cycle), we can fit you with a copper coil (IUD), hormonal coil (IUS) or contraceptive implant. These contraceptives can be purchased at our clinic. You can also buy a contraceptive implant somewhere else and bring it with you.<br><br>For comprehensive information on all contraceptives and their use, please visit&nbsp; www.anticonceptie.nl or&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.zanzu.nl\/en\/home\">www.zanzu.nl<\/a>&nbsp;(multilingual)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"our-contraceptives\">Our contraceptives:<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bloemenhove.nl\/praktische-informatie\/anticonceptie\/#Spiraal\">Copper and hormonal coils<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bloemenhove.nl\/praktische-informatie\/anticonceptie\/#Hormoonstaafje\">Contraceptive implant (Implanon)<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"costs\">Costs<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Are you insured in the Netherlands? Then the insertion of an IUD or hormonal rod&nbsp;immediately&nbsp;after your abortion or within&nbsp;two months of the treatment in our clinic, is free.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You will, however, pay for the cost of the IUD or hormonal rod itself.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You can bring your own&nbsp;contraceptive. Ask your GP or gynecologist for a prescription so you can pick it up at the pharmacy. You can also&nbsp;purchase&nbsp;an IUD or hormonal rod at our clinic.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you do not have Dutch insurance or live outside the Netherlands, or if the insertion of an IUD or hormonal rod is not after an abortion\u00a0in our clinic, you will also pay the insertion fee.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For current&nbsp;prices of contraceptives and insertion procedure, please <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bloemenhove.nl\/contact\/\">call us on weekdays<\/a>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"cover\">Reimbursement<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>If you&nbsp;live in the Netherlands and&nbsp;are under 18, the IUD or hormonal rod is covered by your basic health insurance. You do not pay anything yourself.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you are between 18 and 21 years old, the cost of contraceptives&nbsp;fall within your&nbsp;deductible and contribution, and you will pay for the IUD or hormonal rod. If the costs exceed your&nbsp;deductible&nbsp;and contribution, you can request reimbursement from your health insurer.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you are 21 or older, you will pay for the\u00a0contraceptive\u00a0yourself. Your health insurance may cover (part of) the cost of the IUD or\u00a0hormonal rod. If you\u00a0purchase\u00a0the contraceptive at our clinic, the cost is\u00a0generally not\u00a0covered by your insurance.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"a-copper-and-hormonal-coils\">A. Copper and hormonal coils<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>We offer the following coils (IUDs and IUSs):<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>T-safe (copper coil)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Mirena (hormonal coil)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Kyleena (hormonal coil)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"copper-or-hormonal-coil\"><em>Copper or hormonal coil?<\/em><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><em><strong>The copper coil (IUD)<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The copper coil is effective<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Periods are a little heavier<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Once fitted, it works immediately<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The copper coil is effective for 5 to 10 years (depending on the type)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Contains no hormones<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><em><strong>The hormonal coil (IUS)<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<a name=\"Hormoonstaafje\"><\/a>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The hormonal coil is highly effective<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Periods are lighter or disappear<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Periods can become irregular<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Continuously releases a small amount of the hormone progestogen<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Transfers much less progestogen into the blood than the pill<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>When fitted during menstruation, becomes effective immediately<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The hormonal coil is effective for 5 years<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"b-contraceptive-implant-implanon\">B. Contraceptive implant (Implanon)<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>A contraceptive implant (Implanon) is a tiny rod of flexible plastic that is inserted under the skin of the upper arm. The implant releases the hormone progestogen. The implant lasts for 3 years. If you have chosen for the abortion pill, you can have an IUD fitted during the follow-up, four weeks after the abortion.<\/p>\n<p>If you have health insurance in the Netherlands, the IUD insertion procedure is free of charge, but the IUD itself is not free, and can be purchased at our clinic. Both hormonal and non-hormonal IUDs are available. Some health insurances cover (part of) the costs of the IUD. Please contact your health insurer for any medical cover. The procedure is free, but you have to pay for the Implanon at the clinic. Also, if you did not have an abortion at the clinic, you can book an appointment to have Implanon fitted.
