It works in the same way as a contraceptive implant.<\/p>\n<p>The first injection is often given during the first 5 days of the menstruation, so that you are protected immediately. The second injection follows after 10 weeks already. After that, your doctor gives you a new injection every 12 or 13 weeks.<\/p>\n<p>During the first months, there is a chance of irregular vaginal blood loss. In due course, menstruation can disappear.
